Wilks Residence

Hutchinson Island, Florida, 2002

The sight of this unique home overlooks a connection with the Atlantic and this portion of Florida's busy inland waterway.  An all-glass living room is turned 45 degrees to focus on the distant view of the ocean over the axis of the endless pool, whose edge blends with the tidal and blue currents of the outlet to the sea.   This house survived the onslaught of three hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 with roof, walls, and glass still intact, and all palm trees proudly erect.
